Shaun Beaumier
Representing Matt McPeake of Horizon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Shaun brings nearly 15 years of Jiu Jitsu experience to our mats. A black belt since March 2024, Shaun has spent his career training with many of Ontario’s Jiu Jitsu pioneers and attending seminars with world-class black belts. His competition success, as well as the success of his students, is a testament to his understanding of Jiu Jitsu and his ability to teach both beginners and active competitors.
Shaun’s teaching style can be described as efficient and fun while being rooted in the sport’s fundamentals. Combining this experience with Platinum’s extensive curriculum makes for great classes every week that keep our students engaged and constantly progressing. Shaun’s speciality lies in his ability to adapt each technique to suit his students’ size and body type, ensuring that no one feels left behind. His ability to elicit taps from pressure alone is unmatched. His commitment to students has led to many incredible friendships.
In 2011, Shaun opened St. Thomas BJJ, where a small team trained in the gymnasium of the YMCA for several years. After expanding, Shaun relocated and changed the name to Rail City BJJ, which he owned and operated until 2019. From white belt to brown belt, Shaun produced gold medal grapplers and frequently brought high-achieving black belts to the area for seminars, included the now Grand Master Marcus Soares. While closing his gym was incredibly difficult, Shaun is happy to be teaching at Platinum and training with many of his former students.
Off the mats, Shaun manages White Knight Facility Services, a property management company based in St. Thomas. His management role contributes to his leadership in class as well as his strong work ethic. Whether you want to learn self defense or become a gold medalist, Shaun has the tools to help you reach your goals.
